• CLUJ IT CLUSTER launches the Romanian chapter of the European campaign #DIGITALSME4SKILLS.

June 8th 2017. The campaign called #DIGITALSME4SKILLS was launched in the end of 2016 by the European DIGITAL SME Alliance (DIGITAL SME), at the presence of Commissioner Günther Oettinger, Vice President of the European Commission Andrus Ansip and the DIGITAL SME President, Oliver Grün. By 2019, the campaign pledged to train 5.000 ICT professionals in hundreds digital SMEs across Europe. It primary targets students and young practitioners. Digital companies, such as software developers and technology integrators, that subscribe to #digitalSME4skills will offer work experience schemes, like apprenticeships, traineeships and internships. Through these schemes, young professionals will acquire high-level digital skills directly from a company specializing in digital solutions.

The campaign is ran within the framework of pledges for action initiated by the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition of the European Union. The Coalition was initiated by the European Commission and is constituted of representatives from the EU Member States, companies, social partners, non-profit organisations and education providers who together seek to find the solutions for a lack of digitally skilled people in the European labour market.

Cluj IT Cluster will play an important role in promoting the campaign among its members and is the accredited organization that certifies Romanian companies that subscribe the campaign. ‘Digital skills are fundamental for further development of digital sector, as well as many other sectors using modern technologies. Therefore, Cluj IT Cluster is proud to contribute to the campaign as we want to demonstrate that Romanian digital SMEs support the up-skilling of our workforce and help Romania to take advantage of the digital revolution” – said Stelian Brad, President of Cluj IT.

Digital SMEs that subscribe to #DIGITALSME4SKILLS need to fulfill only one simple requirement: offer a work experience scheme (such as apprenticeships, traineeships, internships) for young people seeking to specialize in ICT industry. In turn, SMEs are offered the right to use #DIGITALSME4SKILLS label, they also get the press release template and benefit from the publicity through campaign’s networks, dedicated Pledge Viewer website, European DIGITAL SME Alliance website and social media. Any interested SME can join the campaign by completing a short registration form online.
